Winter has finally made it to the UK!

Winter racing name CURE who was sold for €400 euros last year and sent to Spain has finally made it to the UK. It’s taken 7 months of recovery before he was well enough to travel. Here is his story from Kerry:
Winter was for sale with another 3 Irish dogs who we rescued last New Year’s Eve.
His owner did call me to say he thought Spain was a good place to send Greyhounds and he was gutted that CURE had a broken leg, was horrifically skinny and had the most horrific skin injury on his leg that’s taken 7 long months to get better.
Apparently, it’s people like me who have created a market for the exports and there are even suggestions I have personally exported dogs to Spain /China to buy them back. Also, it was questioned what are protection groups doing to stop the exports???
I’m embarrassed for anyone involved in the Racing Industry if these are the kind of people who represent the sport. How desperate can an industry and individuals be to blame Greyhound Rescues for the export of these dogs?
The last thing I ever want you to do is pay for dogs it goes against everything a rescue believes in. The problem with the exported Greyhounds is no one is helping them: once they are exported they are lost forever without ever getting a chance of a home. If we get the opportunity to buy back one of these dogs that should have never been exported in the first place rightly or wrongly we will do it.
Even though Winter was still registered in Ireland when we found him and his owner was apparently extremely upset by his state not one single £1 was offered towards his vet care which had cost hundreds.
Winter got lucky he found us and found a fabulous foster mom Diana Laurie in Spain who has been with him for the last 7 months and nursed him back to health.
The Racing Industry are to blame for this and all the other abuse, exports and deaths within the racing industry.
The photo of winter lying on the floor when we first saved him is everything anyone needs to know about the racing industry. It’s a heartbreaking image and sums up why we are proud to be anti-racing.
