Please meet Owen racing name Shake My Hand .Owen is an Irish bred racing dog who raced in Ireland then while still registered as being under the IGB he was exported to Spain for breeding. Soon as he was no longer needed by the breeder in Spain he was up for sale to anyone who wanted to use and abuse his little body. Lucky for Owen we found him and he is now under Greyhound Protection UK .He will come to the UK and be given the life he deserves rather than being passed around like some machine for people to just make money from. Another fine example of the racing industry letting down their dogs again that they apparently love so much. I just don’t know when this is going to end with the exports and the abuse these dogs suffer. It’s not something as a rescue we can keep doing because we have to pay for these dogs and we can’t afford and it’s wrong having to buy these dogs. If we didn’t buy them tho they would suffer a life if hell for the rest of their life and would just be worked until they dropped. It’s such a catch 22 because last thing I want to do is give people money for the dogs but then how can I just walk away from Irish and English Greyhounds that should be having their retirement rather than being used again until they have nothing else left.
