Pippa’s Story

Poor Pippa was unfortunately returned into our care after a couple of months in a home. Pippa has been through so much she deserves a home that understands the abuse and trauma she has suffered. She’s back into our care through no fault of her own but we are positive she will now find her forever family that will look after her and treasure her for the rest of her life. Pippa’s story below 👇 ❤️

This is why we are anti racing –  for all the Pippa’s that aren’t so lucky.
Pippa racing name Notorious Pippa came into our care a few months ago. She was picked up as a stray in Wales and taken to a pound where she was doing 7 days. Without rescue space, she would have faced euthanasia as many dogs do in pounds.
Pippa was emaciated, had sores all over her body and a broken leg that had been left and fused back together. She was extremely handshy and would go down on her tummy and wet herself should you touch her. She particularly didn’t want her face or head to be touched.
Greyhound Protection UK worked hard to get more information about Pippa – she was still registered to the Greyhound Board of Great Britain and her racing owner when she was picked up off the streets.
While checking Pippa’s ear tattoos we also found out to our absolute horror that her ear tattoo had been chemically removed (we got her racing name from her chip).
After digging more we found out her father was Clonbrien Hero from Graham Holland’s triple cocaine positive. Pippa is from a NINTH litter even though only 8 are allowed!
Ireland was shown as her place of birth, not the UK. Her old owner said she had both ears tattooed but she hadn’t it was only one and it was ZIU3. She was given a UK tattoo in Kilkenny
Pippa and her litter mates were born in Mar 19; when they tried to chip them in May 19 they were told that it was a 9th litter so instead they used GBGB chips but Irish tattoos. They have removed the ninth litter OFF the Greyhound Racing Ireland’s website!
They deleted Pippas’s page but they couldn’t delete her brothers because he raced in Ireland. Pippa also had a litter of pups in Nottingham; we found one registered.
Once in GPUKs care, Pippa later went on to have her leg amputated under veterinary advice. She is doing so well and has gone from being a terrified dog to the most amazing beautiful happy sweet girl.
This is Greyhound Racing 2024 in Ireland and the UK. It’s full of abuse and corruption. Rather than anyone trying to help find out who was responsible for the abuse the powers that be removed her history. No green GBGB form was filled in and there’s no trace of her last owner.
Pippa got lucky – thousands of Greyhounds don’t; these dogs are always rescued not retired.
