Message from Kerry!
As many people are aware we have recently changed the name of the rescue. This is because over the last few months lots of things have changed. We have opened another branch in West Sussex which is doing absolutely amazing. Sarah Jane knight is the manager of that branch and works along side me. A good team of volunteers is building up and the rehoming is going fantastic. The branch is still under us and has the same policies and procedures. We have a very small team of fosters in the Midlands now and that will stay that way.We still have an amazing core team that are wonderful in the Midlands that homecheck , fundraise etc .This week we open a new branch in the Lincolnshire wolds which I will be running.I will be running things things as I always have done and we will be taking ex racing greyhounds from all over the UK weather that be from trainers ,private homes ,gumtree etc ?.I will still be taking dogs from Ireland and working with our partner rescues in Ireland. As a rescue we will still be helping dogs from Ireland or the UK and getting them to our partner rescues in America and Canada.I will still take Lurchers when the rescue have spaces for them and of course the odd fat head.We will still as a rescue take galgos and dogs from Spain and Europe if needed .We won’t becoming a registered charity even tho we have Spoken about it many times of the years. There are few reasons for this but the main one is we are anti greyhound racing and want to see this so called sport banned .We are very active in the fight to end the sport and political campaign which means we can’t become a charity. This year has been dreadful and we haven’t been able to campaign like we usually do but we will once things are back to normal. As a rescue we are proud to fight and stand up for the dogs no matter what.We have haters and I get abuse all the time but honestly it’s water off a ducks back I hand on heart don’t give a shit what pro racers say about me.In fact when they are running me down and the rescue I know I clearly get to them and at the end of the day I do want their sport to end .We will be sorting a new logo soon then we will have new merchandise for sale.I hope everyone supports these new changes because things are only going to get better and as a rescue we are only going to be stronger. The only thing that matters is the dogs and that should always come before anything else .We are very very lucky we have some amazing volunteers and supporters and some wonderful vets we work with .As a rescue people don’t see what goes on behind closed doors but it’s none stop 24/7 .Its emotional and can be very draining and every day is different. The dogs are the reason we all do it and that’s why we work so well .Theres no egos or drama and as a rescue I wouldn’t have it anyway. We are all in it together and the results of our rehoming shows we are doing good things. Thank you again to all the volunteers every single one of you are so important and keep things ticking over.Once things have settled down I will be starting a volunteer scheme at the Lincolnshire Wold base so people can come and walks the dogs etc and I can be little miss bossy boots .Wednesday we have the first five dogs arrive at the new branch which I’m very excited about and spent all day getting the room and beds ready because I do have an obsession with beds .We still rehome dogs all over the UK.
