Last week I had a call from a Greyhound owner who I had taken dogs from a few years back. He said he desperately needed to get space for a Greyhound who came over from Ireland was with a trainer but he just isn’t cutting it as a race dog. He said the dog was at risk now of being put to sleep as no one would take the dog the trainer wanted him gone.
Gavin racing name Rapido Sylvie arrived in the care of Greyhound Protection UK from the trainer Jooles Slater. Apparently this trainer has been suspended from racing and the owner of the dog said Slater has had his license removed by the Greyhound Board of Great Britain.
As you can see Gavin is in awful condition and covered in massive scars and no one seems to know what has happened too him. Gavin’s luck has changed however as it’s his second birthday today and he will never be used or exploited again.
Greyhound racing is a national disgrace and responsible for so much death and cruelty to these precious noble animals. Gavin is one of the lucky ones.
